Kenya aims to attract 5.5 million tourist arrivals by 2028 by capitalizing on a strategic move to collectively partner with key social media influencers and notable media outlets across the region.
The East African Community region aims to attract over 14 million international tourists annually by 2025; June Chepkemei, KTB chief executive says that Kenya will be at the front line to realize the dream through regional marketing deliberation for greater integration.
Thus, KTB’s strategic move of collaborating with influencers across the regions of Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Kenya is seen as a move to achieve the bigger vision.
“The regional marketing deliberations were a stepping stone to greater integration. The launch of the unified EAC tourism brand was an apt embodiment of this vision, and this influencer activation and media outreach is designed to harness our collective strength for mutual benefit further,” Chepkemei said.
According to June Chepkemei, East Africa has a shared history and culture and is uniquely positioned to offer diverse, multi-country itineraries that capture travelers’ imaginations.
She said that by collaborating with influencers and media partners from key markets, the country will highlight the unique experiences available across the region and inspire new interest in visitors.
“Influencers play a critical role in destination marketing by delivering authentic, engaging content that sparks the desire and travel aspirations among their followers,” says Chepkemei. “Likewise, the media plays a key role in shaping consumer preferences and travel decisions. We aim to give them an impactful experience that translates to compelling storytelling.”
Influencers at the center of KTDA’s strategic move are Norah Daniel, a Tick Tocker and Youtuber with close to 14K followers; Ally Jape from Tanzania, with a followership of about 45K on Tick and 40K on Youtube; Belinda Wanyana, with 9K Tick Tock followers, and Nabz Arah from Uganda; Oseah and Ihimbazwe Innocent from Rwanda; and Micahel Felleke and Habesha Traveler from Ethiopia.
We are monitoring influencer content across platforms and will soon share who creates the most engaging tourism content and its impact to the Tourism industry.
